A. By definition of the standards of the International Society of Arboriculture or ISA, an arborist is someone who is expertly trained in the art and science of maintaining healthy trees. As a non-governmentally mandated process, certification is merited by each individual’s own knowledge and skill level. With a minimum of three years experience and the passing of a comprehensive examination, a certified arborist has set himself aside from the typical tree care industry competitor. In addition, as a certified arborist, one is responsible for not only maintaining his own licensing but also must commit himself to minimum continuing education classes in able to remain abreast of the latest technologies in the tree care business.

| Q. Why is it necessary to hire a professional to trim my trees?
A. Similar to having your own hair done by a professional would you trust just anyone? An experienced arborist is exactly that! He is experienced, often certified, and highly knowledgeable of the artistry of tree care. One who may be inexperienced such as a homeowner or even a company with little experience in the industry may not only cause injury to the tree being treated but also to himself. As a Certified Arborist, The Tree Fella is completely dedicated to providing the utmost care to your trees and property.

| Q. After my trees are pruned, will they be treated with anything?
A. If pruning is done properly, current research done by notable arborists all over the world, state tree wounds created by pruning tend to heal most effectively naturally without any type of medicating additives. As a prevention tactic, sometimes it is necessary to apply an initiating healing ointment.

Q. What is the difference between tree "topping" and tree "pruning"?
A. Topping is actually a much more invasive procedure. Typically performed with little regard to aesthetics or growth pattern. It is designed to remove extremely excessive parts above and beyond normal height and structure. Pruning is a much more meticulous procedure with concern for natural growth patterns. Selectively removing excessive growth creates not only room for new growth but also makes the tree beautifully pleasing to the eye.
|
| Q. Is there a preferred time of the year to prune?
A. Routine pruning can be done at any time of the year, however more extensive trimming should be avoided during the spring. Due to the fact that during the spring months, trees exhaust a lot of energy producing new foliage they tend to be more vulnerable to infection and stress. Therefore, during this time extreme pruning should be avoided.

Factors to take into account would include, overhead utility cables, sidewalks, walkways, driveways below ground wiring, etc. .
b. What is the purpose of the tree? Do you want something for shading, wind breaking, or are you a fruit tree lover? .
c. Always, your soil conditions should be a priority! Is the soil deep, fertile, and well drained or is it shallow .
d. In some ways, your trees and landscaping are much like your pets. One should never commit themselves to a pet if they do not truly have the time, money and energy it requires for them to enjoy long and enriching lives.
